Skin Cancer: Protect Your Skin

Skin Cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. More often than not, skin cancer is caused by damage from the UV rays. Living in the Inland Empire, we all know that the sunny days around here are in excess! The best way to prevent skin cancer is to practice sun safety.

Here is our list of must when heading out into the sun:

  1. Make sure you wear your sunscreen, reapply when necessary. Most professionals recommend at least a 30 SPF, but 50 SPF is ideal.

  2. Wear a hat to cover your face. A wide brim hat would be an even better choice, as it provides extra protection for your neck.

  3. Wear protective clothing that covers your arms and legs. There are so many options these days for UV protection clothing.

  4. Avoid sun during certain time periods. If possible, stay in the shade during the midday. Keeping out of the sun between 11 AM and 3PM is ideal.

It is important to be aware of any changes in a patch of skin, or even a mole. Detecting skin cancer early can save your life. Unger Primary Care Concierge is a comprehensive primary care that prides ourselves in the best wellness of all our patients.
